|We enjoy a great location for
an up north getaway you cannot get much closer to nature than we are, at
the heart of the Manistee National Forest, three rivers are nearby that
are great for canoeing, boating, kayaking and fly fishing; Pine River,
Little and Big Manistee.
Take in the sights and sounds
of the area with an all day picnic in the heart of the Manistee National
Forest. Hike and bike on three different trails; River Trail, N. Country
and the Big M. And for the more adventurous, see if you can find some of
the delicious mushrooms common to the area like the rare Morel, in the
spring time, or the Beefsteak and Puffer mushrooms also found here.
Hunters will enjoy the wide variety
of game available in the area such as deer, turkey, grouse and small game,
while fishermen have the benefit of fantastic salmon, steelhead, walleye
or trout found at Tippy Dam or on Bear Creek.
Winter enthusiast will take pleasure
in cross country and down hill skiing, snowshoing, ice fishing or snowmobiling
on two trail systems; ride from your door to the Benzie snowbird's going
north or Wellston going south. Watch sunsets on the pier or just kick back
and watch eagles in flight and other wildlife. On a clear night the Northern
lights may be visible or just gaze at the stars as you relax by the campfire.
